Golf is a sport which is now covered by several rules, apparently complicated: having to provide various game situations (which affect the morphology of the field, environmental conditions, benefits awarded to players (So-called "handicap "), materials available, types of competition) the rules of golf are updated and published every four years by agencies ("Governing Body") for Europe is the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R & A), Scotland; area for the American United States Golf Association (USGA).

Basic rules
