Rules of Golf Golf Course

Golf is a sport where a player must bring a ball in a hole dug in the ground by hitting it with different types of clubs, subject to the 'Rules of Golf', starting from a particular point and using the fewest of strokes as possible. Golf is one of the few sports with a ball that has no area of \u200b\u200bthe standard game: every 'golf course' has its own unique design and is generally composed of 9 or 18 holes of various lengths.

Golf is a sport which is now covered by several rules, apparently complicated: having to provide various game situations (which affect the morphology of the field, environmental conditions, benefits awarded to players (So-called "handicap "), materials available, types of competition) the rules of golf are updated and published every four years by agencies ("Governing Body") for Europe is the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R & A), Scotland; area for the American United States Golf Association (USGA).

The importance of knowing the rules for a golfer is greatest: this is probably the only sport in which everyone is judge of himself, and then honesty and respect must be part of the baggage of every golfer. In addition, there are procedures to follow to avoid penalties or simply to exploit certain situations in their favor.

's why it required an examination of the rules, to be supported at one of the clubs recognized by the Federation. In addition to the playing rules are necessary rules of etiquette.

During the course of the official competitions, rather than the real referees there are observers. Each competitor is expected to practice self-control. In case of dispute we appeal to a special committee, whose main purpose is to provide players know what the rules in this case.

And there are rules to discourage slow play, which indeed are gradually tightening with increasing practitioners: for example, play a ball "provisional" when it is probable that you have lost your order to avoid wasting time in research.

Mainly there are two types of game. In the game "a hole" is given to a player who enters the hole in as few shots (taking into account the disability, the penalties and bonuses) and the winner is the one at the end of the trail has won more holes. In the game "to hit" the winner is the competitor who has covered the entire field in as few strokes (always taking into account the disability, the penalties and bonuses).

The Regulation also fairly rigorous tools used by the players: on one hand the new technologies allow the creation of sticks and balls increasingly sophisticated and demanding, the rules imposed on the other are becoming more restrictive, but in the spirit to compete in a fair .

But it was not always like that, because it is very likely that at least 300 years, golfers have played virtually no written rules as simple as it was "their" game that was different from other games of "clubs / sticks and balls" only to the fact that we were to conclude with the ball tucked inside a pocket. The introduction of written rules took a minimum of order but of course these rules were borrowed from others, including in all likelihood there were those of a French game called jeu de mail .

Basic rules

beginning of each hole the ball is hit in the pre-starting point, for every next shot until end into the hole, hit the point where it stopped (it can be moved only in a few cases provided). You can not hit the ball while it is moving to the previous stroke. Only the first shot of each hole is allowed to use a support called tee, which is intended to lift the ball slightly off the ground. (By extension the term tee also indicates the starting point of the hole)

If the ball leaves the field boundary or ends up in water, is lost: the player is penalized of one stroke and play resumes with a new ball from where he had taken, or is acting on the basis of more complex rules (if it ends in water). The same happens if the ball after the shot is lost from view (eg if it ends in the tall grass or the bushes) and is not found within the time established by Regulation (five minutes).
